FAQ

Seeking Light? Start with Understanding.

What is Freemasonry?

Freemasonry is the world’s oldest and largest fraternal organization. It is a brotherhood of like-minded men who seek to improve themselves and their communities through moral and spiritual development, charitable work, and lifelong learning.

Why should I become a Mason?

Masons enjoy a lifelong bond of brotherhood, opportunities for personal and professional development, community involvement, and the satisfaction of contributing to charitable causes. Many members find deep meaning in the philosophical and moral teachings of the Craft.

What do Masons do?

Masons meet regularly in local lodges to conduct business and engage in fellowship. Lodges support local charities, host public events, offer scholarships, and work to better their communities.

Can I visit a Masonic Lodge before joining?

Yes! Many Lodges hold public events, open houses, or community nights where non-members are welcome. We encourage you to attend and learn more about us in person.

Who can become a Mason?

Any man who is at least 18 years old, believes in a Supreme Being, and is of good moral character may petition to join. He must also be recommended by current members and express a genuine interest in becoming a Mason of his own free will.

Is Freemasonry a religion?

No, Freemasonry is not a religion. While belief in a Supreme Being is required, Masonry does not dictate or interfere with personal religious beliefs. It encourages each member to follow his own faith and live by its moral principles.

Are Masonic meetings secret?

Masonic meetings are private, but not secret. The values, goals, and many activities of Freemasonry are public. Certain parts of our ceremonies and modes of recognition are reserved for members to preserve tradition and integrity.

How do I become a Mason?

To become a Mason, you must ask—freemasonry does not solicit members. You can contact our Lodge directly through this website or speak with a current member. Once you express interest, you’ll be guided through the petition and interview process. We look forward to hearing from you!
